Gee which party has said no to expanding our energy production here at home for 3 decades? Hint, it's not the party with the elephant, it's the one with the donkey.

Due to a lack of information (self imposed of course) many people judge, react and make assumptions based on what someone else says usually the media, the drive by media. Whether the media reports all the facts, explains the intricacies of economics or international law and so forth does not matter. Most folks can't absorb such complicated information much less truly understand it. Heck, I am an educator; I read a lot, stay informed and ask tons of questions and conduct extensive research on matters that interest me, and I "still" get so confused sometimes, especially when I listen to politicians on all sides start to use vague jargon and cliches. Can anyone "speak in plain English?"

Politicians have studied more psychology than business, economics or foreign affairs and they know how to grab our attention through our emotions. Forget logic, concrete details and facts; that "stuff" is way too serious and complicated. So as we withdraw from the "action" in hopes of allowing someone else to "take care of the matter" we lose any power or control we may have been able to use in our own benefit.

So it does not surprise me that Mr. Leno would overlook the low ratings in Congress! He beats his drum for a specific crowd, and yep "they come a running." We supply what we think people demand. I'd like to see people start to demand truth no matter how difficult or complex, regardless of which party it helps or destroys. In the end, I am not a Republican or a Democrat; I am a "United Statesman" (no attempt here at being sensitive to sexist language even though I am very woman).

Great post!

This post doesn't sit well with liberals. I've tried. Their response is: But the Democrats in Congress still get better ratings than the Republicans in Congress, so its STILL the Republicans fault!

Yep. As the old saying goes, you can make statistics say anything if you try hard enough.
