More Change than You can Shake a Trillion Dollars At!

By Kris | Feb 13, 2009

I’ve got to tell you, I am ticked off to no end.  I just finished watching Nancy Pelosi address the country and tell us how history is already dictating that Barack Obama is one of the greatest presidents ever.  Why?  Because he managed to pass a huge spending package faster than any president ever before him.  According to Pelosi, Obama has just given us the biggest tax cut for middle income Americans ever.  Yeah, I can hardly wait for that $13 per week!  Wait a minute…I won’t be getting it…I am self employed, and pay twice as much already as the normal person…

Quite frankly, if this man was as great as all the dems keep telling us he is, they wouldn’t have to keep telling us.  Every time Pelosi opens her mouth, she is praising this man like he truly is the messiah they claimed him to be in during the election.  This type of leader worship is nothing new to the world.  There have been many such “great leaders”, and President Obama seems to be in their mold.  Hitler.  Stalin.  The Caesars.  Seriously, did you all see the nutcase at one of his town hall meetings?  You know, the ones where he only allows in the cry babies who demand that the government give them all that they want.  This guy wants Obama to give him more benefits for working at McDonald’s.  Yeah, step in there President.  I know I want to pay $10 for my Sausage McMuffin.

The only thing different between that guy’s worship and that of Nancy Pelosi is that she was slightly more reserved in her demeanor.

Back to this bloated Spending Bill.  You can deceive yourself into believing it is a stimulus bill if you want, but you are just as insane as the Democrats who passed the bill in the House.  This bill is a waste of my money.  If you want to stimulate MY economy, give me my money back.  Give the small businesses their money back so that they can hire another person.  Give the big corporations some money back, so that they can hire a lot more people.  If Pelosi thinks this is the biggest tax cut for middle class Americans ever, it is no wonder she can’t see how bad this bill is.  She simply cannot do the math.  I’m middle class, and I got a whole lot more money from the Bush tax cuts than I will get from this farce of a “tax cut” involved in this ridiculous spending bill.

Folks, we are going to get this monstrosity of a bill shoved down our throats.  The Dems in congress are following along after Barack Obama blindly–they are voting for this simply because he said it is the right thing to do.  How do I know this?  They have not had nearly enough time to read the bill, let alone understand it well enough to make an informed decision.  Heil Obama.  Goosestepping and all.  I am not surprised that the Dems had to force this through quickly.  Regardless of Pelosi’s claim that this is “for the American people”, those of us with our eyes open can see that this will be good money thrown after bad.  It is not going to help me and you.  All this is going to do is give even more power to the government, making sure that they have control over nearly every aspect of private enterprise (there’s a concept that won’t be with us much longer!)  Where in the world are the honest, and honorable Democrats who will stand up and make a decision for themselves?  I’m with Glen Beck on this one.  Go ahead and vote for it, but at least make an informed vote!  Read the bill, and study the impact first.  Don’t just do something so that you can go on TV and tell the American people that you did something.  Or, as in the case of Nanci Pelosi, vote for something so that you can get on your way to Europe to rub elbows with your fellow socialists.

We have learned much through this process.  We have learned that Barack Obama was certainly not honest in his inaugural address, when he said that the government under him would be transparent, and that they would change the way of doing things in Washington, and that they would be more accountable to the American people.  None of that is true.  This is his first major legislation, and he has already violated all of those principles!  Transparency?  We aren’t even allowed to know what is in the finished bill before it is being voted on.  The speed with which they have moved is astounding, leaving little to no time for debate, and certainly keeping the constituents of these congressmen in the dark so that they cannot possibly voice their opinions (at least intellegently) to their representatives.  This follows the pattern that has been established:  The government knows better what to do for you, and how to do it, than you do.  You don’t need to have any real imput.

I am proud of the House Republicans for standing up to this arrogance and bullying from the White House and their collegues in the House.  They were not going to be buffaloed into voting for a bad bill.  When (not if) this nonsense causes even further problems, at least the Democrats cannot try to “share” the blame.  Now, if the Senate Republicans would take a stand.  I think most of them will, but I’m sure the Dems can count on at least 3 RHINOs to step up and help them out…they got them the first time around.  I guess Arlen Specter likes to be wined and dined in the White House (as Laura Ingram said).

This is a trillion dollar bill.  I know, if you are like me, you can’t really comprehend that much money.  The Democrats are counting on that.  We are so hardened to the concept that we (as a society) swallow bills like this hook line and sinker.  But, remember, this is just the beginning.  Nanci Pelosi is so proud that Obama has been able to spend this much money in just a few weeks.  Go ahead and multiply that out over the next four years.  Yeah, my calculator doesn’t even go up that high.  Get used to it.  We will be spending a ton of money over the next 4 years (if we are lucky, it won’t be 8), and we will never be able to repay it.  Your great-grandchildren will be paying the debt, and probably won’t even be close to getting it paid off.

Will we ever get back to a time of fiscal responsibility?  It is time to cut the spending, put money back in people’s pockets, and stop trying to rely on government to fix everything all the time.  Get over it America.  Ingenuity has popped us out of depressions before.  Quit whining and get to work on something new.  If RVs aren’t selling, figure out how to make something that will sell.  Have a little pride.  Don’t ask the government to bail you out–do it for yourself!

Did you see how Chucky Schumer (sp?) treated the republicans?

Let me paraphrase for you: “Republicans, we are throwing you a bone by even pretending to listen to anything you have to say. Now shut up, sit down, and vote for our bill.”

So much for “stepping across the aisle” and being “the party of unification.”
